Welcome to the website of Judith Prins Garden Orchids
Even before our garden was shaped on the drawing board we had a few spots in the garden reserved for hardy Orchids. 14 years later through a process of trial and error we have grown a variety of these hardy Orchids. The beauty of the hardy Orchids is that they withstand the harsh winter and return every year. In the autumn, but mostly during early spring we search for growth-points that flower during May and June. | Although it is fascinating to grow plants that are endangered with extinction, especially if they thrive in your own garden, collecting the assortment we now have growing has been quit difficult. Our aim was not only to collect plants from Western Europe, but also plants from the same degree of latitude or climatologic conditions. We travelled through the whole of Europe in order to buy and trade Orchids from bona fide growers. Especially the plants that were large enough to flower were the most fun; these were potted for a year at the least. An additional problem is the law structure that protects all European wild Orchids and a large number of American and Asian Orchids. |
“Orchids in the wild, admire them, photograph them but don’t disturb them!” From this point of view we started years ago to sow and multiply Orchids in our laboratory. At first as a hobby but since January of 1997 as a small company. The goal is to expand the selection and multiply the number of hardy Orchids through selling them to customers in the Netherlands and abroad.
